Looking Sexy at Work: It Can be Done
Sure, you put up your profile at internet dating sites and do what you can to meet men the "normal" way. But that doesn't mean that you don't have your eye on that very cute new account manager-- and it doesn't mean you shouldn't want to look fabulous at work so that you can catch his eye, too.
Being sexy at the workplace can be a difficult balance. While you don't want to pretend to be somebody you're not just to further your career, you don't want being sexy and showing off your sexuality to put the brakes on your career. A career woman is just as sexual a woman as any other; but the artificial rules in place in most offices make overt sexuality like a blinking neon sign reading "don't take me seriously."
Luckily, there are ways to be sexy at work --and catch that account manager's attention-- without taking an ounce away from your professionalism. You just need to know how to do it right.
Cinch it. Do you have a small waist and a feminine shape? Then there's no better way to use your shape to vamp up your sex appeal that to cinch your waist. A cinched waist doesn't require tight clothes or clingy material; with one high-waisted pencil skirt or belted cardigan, you can show off your femininity (and your sexuality) without giving up an ounce of your professionalism.
Use texture. A piece of clothing in one material can say one thing, while that same piece in another fabric will say something completely different. Using soft, touchable fabrics in your office wardrobe is a great way to surround yourself with a subtle aura of sexuality without being overtly sexual in any way. Why? Because a touchable fabric gets people thinking about what it might be like to touch you-- and perhaps makes them wish that they could. Fabrics like silk, satin, velvet, etc., softly say "touch me" to a man; very sexy, very sensual... but perfectly professional and under the radar.
Be girlie. If you're trying to attract the kind of man who loves women (and you probably should be), one of the best ways to be seen as sexual is to be seen as a woman instead of just an accountant or a salesperson. And it's easy to do this with a few soft, feminine details. A small pair of earrings framed by a soft curl of your hair, or a pretty necklace, or a soft ruffle on your clothes is a great way to gently suggest your sexuality. If a man can't forget to see you as a woman, he probably won't forget to see you as a sexual one.
Shape, not skin. Sure, you wish you could be sexy at work. And you imagine that being sexy might involve wearing your cutest little mini-skirt or your best cleavage-bearing top. But that's not necessarily so. Sometimes it's even sexier to leave most of you covered... but use your clothes to show off your shape. Buy a pair of slacks that hug your bottom just-so, and pair them with a more conservative top. Show off just the shape of your shoulder or the line of your neck without leaving anything else uncovered. Sometimes small peeks at what you'd look like without your clothes on are more effective than wearing almost nothing. Make one piece of an outfit fit a bit more snugly than you usually might to show off your shape. Then pair it with something conservative to balance it out.
Show off your toes. Ah, shoes... is there anything they can't do? When you get dressed for work in the morning, you need to be mindful about how low-cut a top is or how short a skirt is. If you want to be professional-looking, you generally have to stay within certain boundaries. But with shoes, you can go all-out and still look utterly professional. Forced to wear a boring and conservative black suit? Pair it with a pair of gorgeous stiletto heels for an under the radar --but completely overt-- sexiness that men won't be able to help but notice. And that they won't be able to criticize one iota, either.
