Being lonely is a normal part of our everyday lives. We get sad when we fail in our exams, when we're rejected by the person we love, or when someone very close to us passes away.Depression, however, could be more fatal than just plain loneliness. It could render life-long consequences that could ruin your self-esteem, health, and well-being.

Low self esteem can come in many different forms. Self pity, jealousy, codependency, emotional infidelity, low self worth, loneliness, and guilt are the major sign. Other signs are blaming others, denial, unable to express feelings, depending on others for self-confidence and a lack for personal boundaries are all signs of low self esteem. Loneliness is a condition that is very pervasive in our society and has received very little professional attention. Most of the people adapt to their lonely lives and try to hide their symptoms from the general public as they are too embarrased to talk about it.

Avoid foods with lots of sugar, caffeine, or alcohol. Sugar and caffeine may give you a temporary burst of energy; but they later bring about anxiety, tension, and other problems. Alcohol is a depressant. Many people drink alcohol to "forget their problems." Again, this is just a temporary fix. Many times when the "high" wears off, you'll feel even worse.
